Walls

Almost all issues can be prevented with correct spacing, correct fastening, and proper moisture management.

  • Surface Flaking

Look for and investigate installation issues, including:

    1. Was there excessive exposure to the elements? Some indications are minor surface flaking, weathered appearance and stains around fasteners.
    2. Was there improper storage and handling of panels?
    3. Minor surface flaking could be caused by exposure to moisture and is a cosmetic issue and not a structural one. Minor surface flaking is not covered by the warranties.
    4. Severe surface flaking on one or more panels could indicate other issues so please notify us.

  • Deflection/Buckling

Look for and investigate installation issues, including:

    1. Were panels butted tight, therefore not allowing the required 1/8” spacing?
    2. Is the fastener schedule properly followed? Check spacing, corners, edge distance, over-driven and under-driven fasteners, or shiners (as all of these will reduce holding power).
    3. Are studs and/or walls properly aligned, straight and square?
    4. Was there excessive exposure to the elements? Some indications are minor surface flaking, weathered appearance and stains around fasteners.
    5. Was there improper storage and handling of panels?
    6. Was blown wet cellulose insulation allowed to dry properly? Trapped moisture in the cavity can cause deflection and buckling.
